2nomi is borne of compassion and caring. 2nomi’s founder, Rick Kral, a gerontologist dedicated to enhancing care for seniors saw the need to understand the person and not just the patient when providing any type of care. Dr. Kral collaborated with other researchers, long-term care organizations and Western Carolina University to develop a simple way to create and use life story photobooks to enhance person-centered care for the elderly. The study validated many research studies and clinical trials that life story books are one of the best ways to promote person-centered care. The 2nomi system was so successful it won a prestigious McKnight’s Technology Awards award in 2018 and received a grant from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), administered by the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services (NCDHHS) and the North Carolina Culture Change Coalition (NCCCC) to provide 6000 life story books to residents in NC nursing homes over a 3-year period.
We have seen the demand for our easy-to-use products and tools, which are specifically designed to meet the needs of caregivers, caregiving facilities, patients, and their families. We began 2nomi to provide the most targeted, comprehensive, and easy-to-use life story products available.
Unlike a life history form that is often kept filed away, a hard-bound life story book with large, full-color photographs and text detailing positive memories can provide the person with an immediate visual and tactile sensory stimulation should they be anxious or in need of an activity or a personal interaction with a care partner.
We hope you find 2nomi life story photobooks as comforting as they are effective in promoting person-centered care.
The book also comes in a digital version which can be viewed from any computer, tablet or phone.
